Your bed is the focal point of your room, so it’s important to choose the right one. The first stage in this decision process, of course, is determining which of the available mattress sizes you need. Once you know this, you can research the styles available to you.
Next up is choosing the right mattress to provide you with a good night’s sleep. Anybody who’s Googled mattress or bed sizes will know there’s a lot of conflicting information, and the nature of the internet means that non-UK sizes often get scooped up into our search results, putting us at risk of a disappointing and potentially impossible delivery!
To help clear up any confusion, we’ve put together a helpful guide to bed sizes.

Which of the mattress sizes should I buy?
The first consideration is the size of your bedroom. If you don’t have lots of space in your main bedroom, then consider reserving this room for sleeping and use another room for storing clothes.
The second is your sleeping style. If you’re a chronic star-fisher then perhaps you should opt for a super king so you and your partner can sleep comfortably. Whereas if you’re single, or you or your partner sleep particularly closely, then a double could be perfect.
How thick should my mattress be?
The depth of a mattress depends on its construction and filling. The Herdysleep mattress is 26cm deep, but others may vary. Mattress thickness doesn’t necessarily correlate to the comfort of your sleep, so it’s important to try a mattress out before you decide it’s definitely the right one for you. That’s why we offer a 100-night trial, so you can make sure that your mattress suits your needs.
How many springs should my mattress have?
We’ve talked about springs on the blog before, but more springs means more support and a comfier mattress overall. Usually this also corresponds with price: the bigger your budget, the more springs you’ll get.
