Herdysleep Applauds 2 Exciting New Farmers For Joining The Flock
Herdysleep are proud to announce two young up-and-coming Herdwick farmers who are joining the flock.
Paddy and Jasmine are from Hall Dunnerdale Farm in the beautiful and remote Duddon Valley, where they keep a flock of 250 Herdwick sheep that graze on Caw Fell. Herdy & Herdysleep Co-Founders, Diane and Spencer Hannah, visited the farm over the weekend of the 24th/25th July to confirm that Paddy and Jasmine will now be supplying their Herdwick fleece for making Herdysleep mattresses.
Herdy has a proud history of working with young farmers in Cumbria, and we’re delighted that Paddy and Jasmine have decided to come on board. It’s great to support them whilst at the same time continue to raise awareness for young farmers.
Local lad, part of a 3rd generation farming family.
Currently works for Anthony Hartley, otherwise known as the “King” of the Herdwick shepherds. There’s not a lot of room left in Mr. Hartley’s trophy cabinet!
Paddy confesses a similar taste in Herdwick breed standards as his mentor, so we think this young lad is someone to watch out for in the years to come.
Now has his own flock of 250 Herdwicks that graze on Caw Fell, 697 m (2,287 ft) above sea level.
Get to know Jasmine
Born in the Duddon Valley, Jasmine is a big “animal fan”.
She grew up surrounded by farms and animals, and often helped out on friends’ farms.
Jasmine has just completed an Extended Diploma at Kendal College on Animal Management.
She currently works at a local vet practice, as she always wanted to work with animals.
Now she’s met Paddy, her farming dreams have come true.
When you buy a Herdysleep mattress you’re helping to support upland fell farming. That’s because we source all the Herdwick wool used in our mattresses at fairly traded rates from a co-operative of farms in the heart of England’s beautiful Lake District.
